When Little Kevin McCallister was accidentally left behind when his family dashes off on a Christmas trip, he finds himself all alone and in charge of their home. Little did he know that he would soon be battling burglars, thwarting robbers, and generally having the time of his life.
Kevin had been wishing for something exciting to happen when he was left in the home all by himself. Little did he know that his wishes would come true in the form of two bumbling burglars, Harry and Marv. The two hapless burglars had been casing Kevin’s family home and decided that this would be their next target.
Little Kevin was determined to protect the family home and concocted a plan to make it appear as if the house was inhabited. He spread decorations and food about the home, making it look like there was a festive party inside. To take this a step further, Kevin unplugged all of the lights in the house and rigged them to be serenely blinking off and on. He also dug a shallow grave in the front yard filled with popcorn kernels and dog bones.
Marv and Harry showed up on the doorstep, thinking Kevin’s house was their next target. However, when they saw all of the lights blink off and on, they immediately changed their minds and ran for the hills.
Not to be deterred, Kevin continued with his crafty plan. He placed a rope ladder on the side of the house, leading to the window, and dangled a string of fake money at the end. Just as Marv and Harry were climbing the ladder, Kevin pulled it up and they fell in a heap on the ground below.
Next, Kevin decided to try a different approach. He filled the house with mannequins that were wearing silly costumes, and lit fireworks in the living room. As Marv and Harry tried to make their way to the window, they stepped on the fake money and were thrown into a fit of laughter.
Finally, Kevin lured the burglars into the kitchen where he had rigged a can of string to an oven timer. When the timer ticked down, the can of string exploded, and Marv and Harry were sent flying into the air. The burglars jumped out of a nearby window and ran out of the house, never to be seen again.
Kevin had saved the day, and his family’s home from the two bumbling burglars. He waited patiently until his family returned from their trip and was welcomed back with open arms.
All in all, it was an exciting and memorable Christmas for little Kevin McCallister. He learned that he didn’t need the help of anyone to be a hero, and that he was more than capable of protecting what was his. He was now a bonafide crime-fighter and master mind of home security.
FADE IN:
INT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – KITCHEN – MORNING
The family is frantically packing their bags in a rush.
MRS. MCALLISTER
Come on, kids! We’re going to be late for our flight if we don’t hurry!
The kids are grabbing their stuff and piling them into their bags as quickly as possible.
MR. MCALLISTER
Everyone got their passports?
The kids all nod their heads as they stuff their last items into their bags.
MR. MCALLISTER
Ok, let’s go!
All the kids rushed out the door, but 8-year old Kevin McCallister is left behind.
MRS. MCALLISTER
Kevin, what are you doing? We need to go!
Kevins looks up, realizing he was left behind.
KEVIN
Mom, I’m right here!
Mrs. McAllister turns back to see him.
MRS. MCALLISTER
Oh my gosh, Kevin! I thought you were with your brother! Hurry up and grab your stuff and let’s go!
Kevin quickly gathers his things, but by the time he gets back to the front door, the car is gone.
KEVIN
Mom! Wait!
He stares in disbelief as the car disappears down the street.
EXT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – MORNING
Kevin stands outside of his house, feeling helpless and alone. Suddenly, two shady figures emerge from the shadows. They are the burglars, Harry and Marv.
HARRY
Well look at this, Marv. It looks like we got ourselves a rich little kid.
Marv grins.
MARV
Finally! We have been waiting for a chance like this!
They start to walk towards the house.
KEVIN
No! You can’t come in!
He stands in front of the door, blocking their way.
HARRY
What? Who said that?
Harry and Marv look around, trying to find the source of the voice.
KEVIN
Up here!
He hangs from the door knob, just out of their reach.
HARRY
Ah! A little kid!
Harry and Marv laugh and try to grab him, but Kevin is too fast. He jumps out of the way and runs into the house.
INT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – KITCHEN – MORNING
Kevin runs into the kitchen and starts to barricade the door with chairs and whatever he can find.
HARRY (O.S.)
Hey there, kid! We know you’re in there!
Kevin frantically looks around for something to use as a weapon. He grabs a can of bug spray and a golf club and goes back to the door.
MARV (O.S.)
You can’t keep us out forever, kid!
Harry and Marv break down the door and start to come in.
KEVIN
Stay away!
He sprays them with the bug spray and swings the golf club at them.
HARRY AND MARV
AHHHHH!
They run out of the house, screaming and rubbing their eyes.
EXT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – MORNING
Harry and Marv stumble away from the house, covered in bug spray.
HARRY
That kid is a wild one! I’ll give him that!
Marv nods in agreement.
MARV
Let’s get out of here before he calls the cops.
They run off, leaving Kevin alone in the house.
INT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – KITCHEN – MORNING
Kevin looks around, realizing that he is all alone. He sighs and looks out the window. His family is gone and it is up to him to protect the house until they get back.
CUT TO:
INT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – LIVING ROOM – DAY
Time has passed and it is now evening. Kevin is asleep on the couch, exhausted from a long day of defending the house. Suddenly, he hears a noise and wakes up.
HARRY (O.S.)
Let’s get out of here before he wakes up!
Kevin quickly jumps up and looks around. He sees Harry and Marv trying to steal the television.
KEVIN
Hey! You can’t do that!
He grabs a nearby broom and charges at them, swinging it wildly.
HARRY
Ahhh! Get away from us, kid!
Harry and Marv run out of the house, dropping the television in the process.
EXT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – NIGHT
Harry and Marv are running away from the house, looking over their shoulders for Kevin.
MARV
We’ll get him next time!
They jump into their car and speed away.
INT. MCALLISTER RESIDENCE – LIVING ROOM – NIGHT
Kevin stands in the living room, victorious. He looks at the broken television and sighs.
KEVIN
That’s going to cost a lot to fix.
Suddenly, the doorbell rings. He nervously creeps up to the door and peers through the peephole. It’s his aunt!
AUNT
Kevin? Is that you?
Kevin opens the door in relief and hugs his Aunt.
KEVIN
Aunt! You’re back!
AUNT
Yes, we got stuck in the airport, but we made it back!
She looks around the house, puzzled.
AUNT
What happened here? It looks like someone has been trying to break in!
Kevin smiles, proud of his accomplishment.
KEVIN
That was me. I was defending the house from burglars.
Aunt smiles and ruffles his hair affectionately.
AUNT
You did a great job! Your parents would be so proud of you.
FADE OUT.
