Armageddon

The Doomsday Clock was ticking. In less than a month an asteroid the size of Texas would impact Earth, meaning certain destruction for the planet. Desperate to prevent the end of the world, NASA assembled a team of five mavericks – each uniquely talented and irreverent in their own way.

The mission was simple: land on the asteroid and drill a hole deep enough to plant powerful nuclear devices that could destroy the asteroid and save the planet. None of the worst-case scenarios mattered anymore. Time was running out.

The team consisted of the team leader – an experienced engineer named Luke; the drill robot and its operator, an eccentric genius, Tom; a female geologist, Dani; an astrophysicist Caleb; and a hotshot pilot, Jake.

The gang of five took off from the Kennedy Space Center in a ruggedly built spacecraft, the Vortex. After a few days of travel, they finally arrived at their destination – a mammoth asteroid as black as night.

The five of them carefully pulled the ship up to match the rotation of the asteroid, and sent a few probes to gain intelligence about its structure. Then, using the latest technology, they started drilling a deep-core tunnel into the asteroid’s crust.

The team worked quickly and efficiently, drilling the tunnel and planting the bombs in the strategic points they’d calculated. But time was not on their side. The asteroid was rotating faster than expected and they had to work faster to avoid being thrown off the surface.

With minutes to spare, the five of them loaded up into the Vortex and flew away just in time to watch the detonation of the bombs. With the asteroid destroyed, they returned to Earth as heroes.

All five of them had faced death and faced their fears head-on, and they all had newfound respect for each other and appreciation for life. As they stepped onto the ground, they all felt a sense of pride. They had saved the planet from certain destruction and now it was time to celebrate.

FADE IN

EXT. SPACE – DAY

A massive asteroid travels through space towards Earth.

INT. NASA CONTROL ROOM – DAY

NASA scientists monitor the asteroid’s progress.

SCIENTIST

It’s going to hit us in less than a month.

NASA CHIEF

We need to find a way to stop it.

INT. LAB – DAY

The scientists devise a plan to send a team of deep-core drillers to the asteroid to implant a nuclear bomb to break it up.

SCIENTIST

We need the best deep-core drillers the world has ever seen.

NASA CHIEF

Let’s find them.

EXT. TRAINING FACILITY – DAY

The NASA Chief has assembled a team of misfit drillers from around the world.

NASA CHIEF

You are the only ones who can save the planet.

The team is visibly overwhelmed as they realize the gravity of the situation.

NASA CHIEF (CONT’D)

We have ten days to train you and then you’ll be launched into space.

EXT. TRAINING FACILITY – DAY

The team of drillers is put through intense training, learning how to work together and use the equipment necessary to complete their mission.

EXT. SPACE – DAY

The team is launched into space in a giant space shuttle.

INT. SHUTTLE – DAY

The drillers are in awe as they look out the window at the asteroid.

EXT. ASTEROID – DAY

The team begins to drill into the asteroid, making their way to the core.

EXT. ASTEROID – DAY

The team successfully reaches the core and plants the nuclear bomb.

EXT. ASTEROID – DAY

The team looks on as the bomb detonates, breaking the asteroid into pieces.

INT. SHUTTLE – DAY

The drillers cheer as they realize they have saved the planet.

EXT. SPACE – DAY

The pieces of the asteroid fly away into the void of space.
