Chapter 1 – Transformation
The gates of the prison opened with a loud clang and Ray stepped out into the bright sun. He had just served an 8-year sentence for armed robbery and was ready to start his life over. But he knew it would be different this time; he wanted to stay away from the gang life he was once so deeply entrenched in.
He had been a shot caller in the gang, a leader and respected member. But 8 years of prison had changed him. Now, he just wanted to stay out of trouble and start a new life.
As he walked away from the prison, he thought about all the people he had left behind and all the things he had done. He was a different person now, a changed man.
But his dreams of a better life were quickly shattered when he got a call from his old friend, who was still in the gang. His friend told him that the gang wanted him back, and that they needed him to orchestrate a major crime with a rival gang in the city…
Ray knew he couldn’t go back to his old ways and he had to find another way to make a living. He decided to take a job as a security guard and use his contacts to start up a security business.
He worked hard at his new job and slowly started to make a name for himself in the security industry. The more work he did, the more he gained respect from his peers.
And soon enough, he had built up his own security business. He had a team of people that worked for him, and he was doing well.
He had managed to stay out of trouble and make something of himself without resorting to a life of crime. He was proud of himself and the people he had helped along the way.
He had finally found what he was looking for: a new start, and a life of peace and stability. He had transformed himself, and it felt good.

FADE IN
EXT. PRISON – DAY
The gates of the prison open, and RAY (30) emerges, looking around in awe at his new freedom.
He takes a deep breath, stretching out his arms as he takes in the fresh air. He smiles, a newfound freedom lighting up his face.
ANGLE ON
Rays makes his way down the street, the sun warming his skin. He’s not sure where he’s going, but he knows he wants to make something of his life.
CUT TO
EXT. ALLEYWAY – DAY
Ray turns a corner and is suddenly face to face with his old friend, still in the gang. His friend gives Ray a hard look, before shaking his head and telling Ray he has to get back into the gang if he wants to make a living.
Ray stands there for a moment, contemplating his next move.
FADE OUT.
FADE IN
EXT. SECURITY COMPANY – DAY
Ray has made his decision. He pulls up to a small security company and steps out of his car. His eyes scan the building as he approaches, determination in his gaze.
INT. SECURITY COMPANY – DAY
Ray talks to the manager, laying out his plan to create a security business. The manager is impressed with his experience and agrees to hire him.
EXT. STREETS – DAY
Ray begins his work, driving around town and getting the word out about his business. He builds relationships with potential clients and shows them he’s trustworthy and reliable.
EXT. SECURITY COMPANY – DAY
Weeks have passed, and Ray’s business is thriving. He has a team of people that work for him and he’s doing well. He looks out at the city, feeling proud of himself.
FADE OUT.
FADE IN
EXT. STREETS – DAY
Ray is walking the streets, looking and feeling secure. He knows he made the right decision. He smiles to himself, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
Suddenly, he hears footsteps behind him and turns around to see a group of men from his old gang. He takes a deep breath and keeps walking, not wanting to be pulled into the life he once lived.
The men come closer, but Ray doesn’t flinch. He stares them down, unwavering in his determination to stay away from the crime and violence of his old life.
Suddenly, one of the men speaks up, telling him that he’s respected and that the gang wants him back.
Without missing a beat, Ray responds:
RAY
No.
The men look at him, somewhat taken aback. Ray stands strong and continues walking, leaving the men behind him.
FADE OUT.
FADE IN
EXT. SECURITY COMPANY – DAY
Ray looks out at his business with a sense of accomplishment. He’s successfully managed to stay away from the gang and make something of himself. He takes a deep breath, feeling proud of what he’s accomplished.
Suddenly, a car pulls up and a familiar face gets out. It’s his old friend, still in the gang. Ray’s heart races, not sure what to expect.
But his friend just smiles and gives him a fist bump, happy to see Ray has made something of himself. Ray thanks him, relieved he doesn’t have to go back to the gang.
His friend tells him that people are talking about him, impressed with what he has done. He turns to leave, but not before giving Ray a final piece of advice:
FRIEND
Keep doin’ what you doin’ Ray. You’re a changed man.
Ray watches as his friend drives away, feeling a newfound sense of pride. He knows he’s made the right decision.
