Smokin’ Aces

Watch the original version of Smokin’ Aces

Bernie and Walter, two veteran FBI agents, cautiously approached the Lake Tahoe hideout of Buddy Israel, aka “Aces,” the infamous magician and con-artist whose life was now in danger. With the big mob boss, Primo Sparazza, having put out a hefty hit on Aces, Bernie and Walter had been assigned to look after him and make sure he was safe. They had just been briefed on the details of the mission and were keenly aware of the stakes.

As they walked up the driveway, they were met by a guard who recognized their FBI credentials and opened the gates without hesitation. Bernie and Walter followed the guard up a winding cobblestone path all the way to a large, Spanish-style villa. Upon reaching the entrance, the guard knocked and called out, “Mr. Israel, the FBI is here to see you.”

Inside, Buddy “Aces” Israel was sitting at his desk in the study, surrounded by stacks of books and paperwork. He had been warned that the FBI was coming and had been hurriedly preparing himself and his paperwork in anticipation of their arrival. He nervously brushed back a lock of his blond hair as he readied himself to greet his new guests.

The door opened, and in walked Bernie and Walter. Aces stood to greet them, offering a polite handshake and a warm smile. “Welcome, Agents,” he said in a jaunty tone of voice. “I’m Aces Israel, and I’m here to help you guys out. So what can I do for the FBI?”

Bernie and Walter exchanged a quick glance and chose their words carefully. “We understand that you have some information that might be of value to us,” Bernie began. “We’d like to hear what you have to say…”

Aces began his story, detailing all of the events of the past several weeks that had led up to his agreement to turn state’s evidence against the Vegas mob. He spoke of his involvement in various criminal activities and how Primo Sparazza had put out a hit on him. He admitted that he had felt scared and helpless, but he also felt determined not to let the mob boss win. That was when he had decided to turn to the FBI for help.

After Aces finished his story, Bernie and Walter both looked at each other with a mix of awe and admiration. They thanked him for his cooperation, and Bernie added that they would do their best to make sure that Aces and his family were kept safe. They then discussed the details of the mission and agreed that Aces would be placed in the FBI’s protective custody.

And so began Aces’ most daring game of con and cat-and-mouse. With the Vegas mob hot on their trail, the FBI had to act quickly and carefully to guarantee Aces’ safety. Bernie and Walter had their work cut out for them, and now it was time to put their skills and training to the test.

Bernie and Walter quickly got to work, arranging for Aces to be moved to a secure and undisclosed location. They stayed close by, watching and waiting for any sign of the mob’s presence. During the day, Walter, Bernie and Aces discussed strategy, going over every detail of the case and discussing the risks involved.

At night, Bernie and Walter kept a constant vigil outside the safe house, ready and willing to take down any mobster foolish enough to try to breach their security. After a week of preparation, the FBI felt they were ready to confront Primo Sparazza.

On the night of the showdown, Bernie and Walter arrived at the Vegas casino where Sparazza was holed up. As they burst through the door, they were closely followed by Aces – a symbol of their triumph over the mob.

Drawing their guns, Bernie and Walter rushed forward, pushing Sparazza back against the wall. Aces stood in the corner, safe and protected as Bernie and Walter confronted the mob boss and arrested him.

For the first time in months, Aces felt relieved. He had been on the run from the mob for far too long, and now his ordeal was finally over. He knew he could never thank Bernie and Walter enough for their help and protection, and he vowed to never forget the moment when he was finally free.
