Prologue:

It started with a whisper. A tiny slip-up in a research facility in London that nobody paid much attention to. A tiny mistake that would have deadly consequences. A virus, unlike any other, was released into the air, infecting those who came into contact with it. Researchers, janitors, and even those living in the surrounding area were all susceptible to its deadly effects. It was only a matter of time before it spread like wildfire, turning the UK into a wasteland of despair and hopelessness. The world as we knew it was gone, replaced by a new reality where survival was the only thing that mattered.

Chapter 1: The Outbreak

Jim woke up to a world he didn’t recognize. The sterile white walls of the hospital were replaced by a dimly lit, abandoned room. The hum of hospital equipment was replaced by the sound of silence. For a few moments, Jim couldn’t remember how he got there, or why he was there at all. But as the fog started to clear, he remembered the virus, the outbreak, and everything that came after.

He tried to go to the door, but it was locked. He banged on the door, hoping someone would hear him, but there was no response. He looked for a way out, but there was nowhere to go. Jim was trapped, alone, and scared.

As he sat there, trying to make sense of what was happening, he heard something. At first, it was just a faint noise, like a distant echo bouncing off the walls. But as it got closer, it became clearer. It was a scream. A scream that sent shivers down Jim’s spine.

He knew he had to get out of there, and fast. He looked around the room, searching for anything he could use to break the door down. He found a chair, and with all his strength, he smashed it against the door. It didn’t budge. He tried again, but it was no use. He was trapped.

The scream got closer, and Jim could hear footsteps pounding on the ground outside. He knew he had to do something, anything, to defend himself. He found a sharp piece of metal on the ground and held it tightly, prepared to face whatever was on the other side of the door.

As the door burst open, Jim saw them. The infected. Humans turned into savage, crazed killers by the virus. They were everywhere, snarling and clawing at him. Jim fought back, using all the strength he had left. He managed to kill a few of them, but there were too many. They overpowered him, and he was knocked to the ground.

He thought it was the end. But then, something unexpected happened. The infected suddenly stopped attacking him and started to convulse, as if in pain. One by one, they fell to the ground, and Jim was left alone, in a room full of corpses.

He didn’t know what had happened, but he knew he needed to get out of there. He found a way out of the hospital and onto the deserted streets of London. The once vibrant city was now a ghost town, with no signs of life anywhere. The only sounds were the moans of the infected and the occasional gunshot.

Jim knew he couldn’t survive on his own. He had to find other survivors, people like him who were just trying to survive. He set out on a journey to find them, hoping that he wasn’t the only one left in this new, terrifying world.

Chapter 2: A New Home

Jim and the other survivors had been wandering through the deserted streets of London for days. They had seen horrors that most people could never imagine, and had lost more than a few friends along the way. But they kept going, driven by a need to survive.

One day, as they were walking through a particularly desolate part of the city, they stumbled upon an abandoned apartment building. For a moment, they hesitated, unsure if it was safe to enter. But they were tired, hungry, and in desperate need of shelter. They had to take the chance.

The building was in rough shape, with broken windows and graffiti covering the walls. But it was empty, and that was all that mattered. They quickly made their way inside and began exploring.

The first floor was a mess, with furniture and debris scattered everywhere. But they managed to find a few usable items, including a couple of chairs and a table that they dragged to a corner of the room. They also found a working sink with running water, which was a small miracle in and of itself.

As they made their way up to the second floor, they encountered their first real problem. The stairs leading up to the next level had collapsed, leaving a gaping hole that was too dangerous to cross. They were forced to backtrack and search for another way up.

After a bit of exploring, they found a narrow staircase in the back of the building that was still intact. It was steep and treacherous, but they managed to climb up to the second floor. This level was in much better shape, with fewer broken windows and less debris.

They quickly set to work, clearing out a couple of rooms and making them livable. They found a few old mattresses and blankets, which they spread out on the floor. They also managed to find a working radio, which they used to listen for any signs of life outside.

Over the next few days, they began to settle into their new home. They had managed to scavenge some food and supplies from nearby stores, and were able to start a small fire to cook with. They even managed to find a few books and board games, which they used to pass the time.

But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. As they spent more time together, tensions began to rise. They were a small and diverse group, with different backgrounds and personalities. Some were more optimistic than others, while some had given up hope entirely.

One of the biggest problems was a man named Frank. He was a former police officer, and had taken it upon himself to be the group’s de facto leader. He was gruff and demanding, and often clashed with Jim, who had a more laid-back approach.

There were also problems with supplies. They had managed to find some canned food and bottled water, but they knew it wouldn’t last forever. They needed to find a way to get more, or they would be in serious trouble.

Despite these challenges, they managed to make the best of their situation. They got to know each other better, sharing stories and memories from their lives before the outbreak. They even managed to find a bit of humor in their dire circumstances.

But the threat of the infected was always present. They could hear them outside, moaning and shuffling through the streets. They knew that they were never truly safe, and that they could be attacked at any moment.

One night, as they were settling in for the evening, they heard a loud banging on the front door. They froze, unsure if it was the infected or something else entirely. Jim cautiously approached the door, his heart pounding in his chest.

As he reached for the handle, he heard a familiar voice on the other side. It was another survivor, an old friend of his named Selena. She had been wandering the city on her own, and had been lucky enough to stumble upon the building.

Jim quickly let her inside, and she was greeted with hugs and smiles from the rest of the group. Selena was tough and resourceful, and they were all grateful to have her with them.

But her arrival only made their problems more complicated. They now had one more mouth to feed, and one more person to protect. And with tensions already high, her presence only added fuel to the fire.

As they settled back into their routine, they all knew that things would never be the same. They had found a new home, but they were still fighting for their lives every day. And with the infected all around them, they knew that the worst was yet to come.

Chapter 3: The Military

The group had heard rumors of a military outpost in Manchester, a place where survivors had found refuge. They decided to make the journey north, hoping to find safety and a community of people fighting against the infected. But as they traveled further, they realized that the military was not what they thought.

As the group made their way through the infected-ridden countryside, they came across abandoned homes and vehicles, evidence of the chaos and destruction that had taken place. They traveled mostly on foot, as vehicles had become a liability, drawing the attention of the infected.

The journey was long and treacherous, and the group had to be constantly vigilant, watching out for the infected who lurked around every corner. But despite the danger, their hopes were high, as they believed that the military would be their salvation.

Finally, after many days of travel, they arrived at the outskirts of Manchester. The city was eerily quiet, with only the sounds of crows cawing in the distance. But as they approached the military outpost, they were greeted by the sound of gunfire and the screams of the infected.

The group moved forward cautiously, weapons drawn, ready for anything. They approached the main gate, where they were stopped by armed guards. The guards were hesitant to let them in, but after some convincing, they were allowed to enter.

Inside the outpost, the survivors were greeted with a grim scene. The military base was overrun by the infected, and the surviving soldiers were stretched thin, struggling to maintain control. Those who had not yet been infected were on edge, constantly looking over their shoulders, unsure of when they would be attacked.

The group was escorted to a makeshift barracks, where they were informed that they would have to earn their keep. The soldiers needed help, and the survivors were expected to pull their weight. They were given tasks such as guarding the perimeter, scavenging for supplies, and assisting with medical care.

The survivors quickly realized that they had underestimated the military’s desperation. The soldiers were not interested in helping the survivors or finding a cure, they were only focused on their own survival. They were willing to go to extreme measures to ensure their continued existence, and the safety of their base.

The group soon discovered that the military had a dark secret. They were not just fighting against the infected, but also against other survivors who had attempted to breach the base. The soldiers had become paranoid and aggressive, seeing everyone outside their base as a threat.

The survivors’ initial hope for safety quickly turned into a nightmare. The military’s aggressive tactics, combined with the infected attacks, made the base an increasingly dangerous place to be. The group watched as one by one, their fellow survivors were either killed or infected.

Jim and his closest companions, Selena and Frank, realized that they needed to get out of the base before it was too late. They made a plan to escape, but it was risky and dangerous. They knew that they would be hunted down by the military, but they also knew that they could not stay in the base any longer.

The night of the escape was tense, with the group moving quietly and quickly through the base. They managed to make it to the perimeter fence, but were almost caught by a group of soldiers. They were forced to engage in a fierce gunfight, which attracted the attention of the infected.

As they made their way through the infected-filled streets of Manchester, the group encountered new challenges. They had to navigate through abandoned buildings and alleyways, all while avoiding the infected and the military who were hot on their heels.

Despite the challenges, they managed to make it out of Manchester and back onto the open road. They knew that they were still not safe, but they were relieved to be out of the clutches of the military.

The group had learned a sobering lesson about the true nature of the world they were living in. There was no safety, no refuge, and no hope for a cure. They were on their own, and they would need to rely on each other to survive.

Chapter 4: The Betrayal

The survivors had settled into their new home in the abandoned apartment building, but tensions had been simmering beneath the surface. With each passing day, the small group had become more fractured, and it was only a matter of time before someone broke. That someone turned out to be Selena.

Jim had always been wary of Selena, who had a cold and calculating demeanor that set her apart from the others. But he never suspected that she would turn on them. One night, while the group was gathered around the fire, Selena announced that she had a plan to get them out of London.

“What kind of plan?” Jim asked, eyeing Selena warily.

“We head north,” she said, her voice low and cold. “There’s a military outpost in Manchester where we can find safety.”

“That’s a long way to go,” Mark, one of the other survivors, chimed in. “We don’t even know if it’s still there.”

“We have to try,” Selena said, her eyes flicking over to Jim. “We can’t stay here forever.”

Jim had a sinking feeling in his gut. He didn’t trust Selena, and he didn’t like the way she was looking at him.

“We’ll talk about it in the morning,” he said, trying to diffuse the tension.

But he knew that Selena wasn’t going to wait until morning. He could feel her watching him, assessing him, and he knew that she was planning something.

The next day, while the others were out scavenging for food, Jim decided to confront Selena. He found her in the stairwell, sitting on the steps and sharpening a knife.

“I know what you’re up to,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.

Selena looked up at him, her eyes cold and calculating.

“What are you talking about?” she asked, her voice flat.

“I know you’re planning something,” Jim said, taking a step closer. “And I want to know what it is.”

Selena stood up, the knife glinting in the dim light of the stairwell.

“You’re not as smart as you think you are, Jim,” she said, her voice low and menacing. “You think you’re in charge, but you’re not. You’re just a liability.”

Jim felt a chill run down his spine. He knew that Selena was dangerous, but he didn’t realize just how dangerous until that moment.

“What do you want?” he asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

“I want you out of the group,” Selena said, taking a step closer. “You’re weak, and you’re holding us back. We need someone strong to lead us, someone who can make the hard decisions.”

Jim felt a surge of anger. He wasn’t weak, and he wasn’t holding anyone back. But he knew that arguing with Selena was pointless. She had made up her mind, and she wasn’t going to listen to reason.

“What are you going to do?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Selena smiled, a cold and ruthless smile that made Jim’s blood run cold.

“I’m going to make sure you’re not a problem anymore,” she said, lunging forward with the knife.

Jim barely had time to react. He dodged to the side, but Selena was fast. She sliced at him with the knife, catching him in the arm. Jim felt a sharp pain, and he stumbled back, trying to get away from Selena.

She pursued him, her eyes gleaming with a feral intensity. Jim knew that he had to fight back, but he was unarmed, and Selena was armed with a knife.

He grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and swung it at her, catching her off guard. She stumbled back, and Jim ran for the door.

He burst out into the hallway, his heart pounding in his chest. He could hear the sound of Selena’s footsteps behind him, and he knew that he had to keep running.

He ran down the stairs, taking them two at a time. He could hear Selena’s knife scraping against the concrete, and he knew that she was getting closer.

He burst out into the lobby of the building, and he saw Mark and Hannah standing there, their eyes wide with fear.

“Jim, what’s going on?” Mark asked, his voice shaking.

“Selena’s gone crazy,” Jim said, panting for breath. “She tried to kill me.”

Mark and Hannah looked at each other, their faces pale with fear.

“What do we do?” Hannah asked, her voice trembling.

“We have to leave,” Jim said, his eyes scanning the lobby for a weapon. “We can’t stay here with Selena.”

He spotted a fire axe hanging on the wall, and he ran over to it, grabbing it off the hook.

“Come on,” he said, motioning for Mark and Hannah to follow him. “We have to get out of here.”

They ran out of the building, the sound of Selena’s footsteps echoing behind them. Jim didn’t look back, but he could feel her presence behind him, like a malevolent force.

They ran through the streets of London, dodging the infected and the military patrols. Jim knew that they couldn’t keep running forever, but he didn’t know what else to do.

Finally, they came to a small park, and Jim signaled for the others to stop.

“We can’t keep running,” he said, his voice low and urgent. “We have to figure out what to do next.”

“We can’t trust anyone,” Mark said, his eyes darting around nervously. “Not even each other.”

Jim nodded, his eyes scanning the park for a place to hide.

“We’ll stay here for now,” he said, pointing to a nearby grove of trees. “We’ll keep watch, and we’ll figure out a plan. But we have to stick together.”

Mark and Hannah nodded, their faces pale with fear. Jim could see the fear in their eyes, and he knew that he had to be strong for all of them.

He took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the fire axe in his hand.

“We’ll get through this,” he said, his voice low and steady. “Together.”

Chapter 5: The Scientist

After returning to London, Jim and the survivors had set up camp in an abandoned warehouse. They were tired and hungry, and the realization that they were still surrounded by the infected made them afraid to venture too far from their makeshift home.

As the days went on, they heard rumors of a scientist who claimed to have a cure for the virus. Despite their skepticism, Jim and the survivors knew that they needed to take a chance and go find this scientist.

They set out early one morning, making their way through the deserted streets of London. The journey was fraught with danger, as they had to navigate through hordes of infected, and avoid the military checkpoints that had been set up throughout the city.

Finally, after several days of travel, they arrived at the scientist’s laboratory. The lab was located in a remote area on the outskirts of London, and it was heavily guarded. Jim and the survivors were apprehensive, but they knew that this was their only hope.

As they approached the lab, they were greeted by armed guards who demanded to know their business. Jim explained that they were there to see the scientist, and after some hesitation, the guards allowed them to enter.

The lab was sterile and brightly lit, with scientists in white lab coats scurrying about. The group was led to a small room, where they met the scientist for the first time.

The scientist was a thin and wiry man, with wild, greasy hair that stood out in all directions. He spoke quickly and nervously, his eyes darting around the room as he explained his research.

“I’ve been studying the virus for years,” he said. “And I believe that I have found a cure. But it’s not easy. The virus is mutating constantly, and I’ve had to work quickly to keep up.”

Jim and the survivors listened intently, hoping that this scientist was telling the truth.

“I need a sample of the virus from a live infected host,” the scientist continued. “With that, I can isolate the virus’s genetic code and develop a cure.”

The group was hesitant. They didn’t want to risk their lives for something that may not even work.

But the scientist was insistent. “It’s your only hope,” he said. “The virus is spreading rapidly, and there’s no telling when the military will find you. If you don’t find a cure soon, you’ll all be dead.”

After much discussion, Jim and a few other survivors agreed to go out and find a live infected host. They knew it was risky, but they didn’t have any other options.

They set out into the city, and it wasn’t long before they found a small group of infected. Jim and the others crept up slowly, trying not to draw attention to themselves. They managed to capture one of the infected, and quickly retreated back to the lab.

The scientist got to work immediately, isolating the virus and testing different combinations of chemicals in hopes of finding a cure. The survivors watched anxiously as he worked, hoping that this man could save them from their fate.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, the scientist emerged from the lab. “I’ve done it!” he exclaimed. “I’ve found a cure!”

The survivors were overjoyed. They had done what they thought was impossible, and they had found a cure for the virus.

But their joy was short-lived. As they were preparing to leave the lab, they heard a loud noise outside. They rushed to the window, only to see that the military had found them.

The survivors quickly gathered their things, and Jim led them out of the lab and into the nearby woods. They knew that they had to keep moving, or they would be caught by the military.

As they ran through the woods, Jim noticed something strange. One of the survivors, a man named Tom, was acting oddly. His eyes were glazed over, and he was stumbling as if drunk.

Jim realized with horror that Tom had been infected. He quickly alerted the others, but it was too late. Tom had turned into one of the infected, and he was attacking the survivors.

The group fought back, but they were outnumbered. They managed to subdue Tom, but not before several of them had been bitten.

Jim and the remaining survivors made their way back to the warehouse, where they isolated themselves to prevent the spread of the virus. They were devastated by the loss of their friends, but they knew that they had to keep going.

As they sat in the warehouse, waiting for the military to arrive, Jim realized that the scientist’s cure was not enough. The virus was mutating too quickly, and there was no way to keep up.

He knew that they were running out of time, and that they had to find a way to survive, no matter what. The group huddled together, waiting for the inevitable showdown with the military, knowing that they may not make it out alive.

Chapter 6: The Cure

As Jim and the survivors make their way through the abandoned streets of London, they can feel the weight of their mission on their shoulders. They are on their way to the laboratory where a scientist claims to have a cure for the virus that has destroyed the world as they knew it.

The journey was long and arduous, filled with close calls with the infected and the military. But finally, they arrive at the laboratory, located in an old government building on the outskirts of the city.

The scientist, a lanky man in his mid-forties with thick glasses and messy hair, greets them at the door, his hands trembling with excitement. “You made it!” he exclaims, ushering them inside.

The laboratory is cluttered and chaotic, filled with shelves and drawers overflowing with equipment and samples. The scientist leads them to a small room in the back, where he shows them the cure.

It is a vial filled with a thick, green liquid, labeled “Antidote-7” in bold letters. The scientist explains that it works by targeting the virus at a cellular level, and that it has been tested successfully on animals.

Jim and the survivors exchange nervous glances, but decide to trust the scientist and try the cure. The scientist administers the antidote to each of them, and they wait anxiously for the results.

At first, there is nothing. But then, slowly, they start to feel different. Their vision clears, their energy returns, and they realize that the cure seems to be working.

The group is ecstatic. They can’t believe they have finally found a cure for the virus. They thank the scientist profusely, and prepare to leave the laboratory and head back to the safety of their apartment building.

But just as they are about to leave, they hear a commotion outside. The military has arrived, led by a stern-faced general with a group of heavily armed soldiers.

The general storms into the laboratory, demanding to know what is going on. He sees the vial of Antidote-7, and his eyes widen in surprise.

“This is what you’ve been working on?” he asks the scientist, his voice dripping with contempt. “You think you can cure the virus? You’re a fool.”

The scientist tries to defend himself, but the general is having none of it. He orders his soldiers to seize the vial of Antidote-7, and to arrest the scientist and the survivors.

Jim and the survivors are caught off guard, and they find themselves surrounded by soldiers with weapons aimed at their heads. They know they have to act fast if they want to survive.

Jim steps forward, his hands raised in surrender. He tries to reason with the general, to explain that they are just trying to survive like everyone else. But the general is relentless, and orders his soldiers to shoot.

A fierce battle ensues, with the survivors fighting tooth and nail to defend themselves and the coveted vial of Antidote-7. They use whatever weapons they can find, from test tubes to broken glass, and manage to hold their own against the soldiers.

Finally, after what seems like hours, the survivors emerge victorious. The soldiers have either been killed or have fled, and the survivors are left standing amidst the rubble and carnage.

But their triumph is short-lived. As they examine the vial of Antidote-7, they realize that it has been damaged in the fighting. The cure is gone, shattered on the ground in a million pieces.

The survivors stare at the broken glass in disbelief. They had come so close to finding a cure, only to have it taken away from them in a single moment of violence.

As they make their way back to their apartment building, Jim and the survivors are left with a sense of hopelessness and despair. They know that the virus has mutated, and that there is no cure in sight. They will have to fight for their survival until the bitter end, with no hope of a happy ending.

Chapter 7: The End

Jim and the remaining survivors sat in silence as they gazed out the window of their apartment building. The once-bustling London streets were now eerily quiet, with nothing but the occasional howl of an infected echoing in the distance. After months of fighting for their survival, they had come to accept the harsh reality that there was no hope for a cure.

The virus had mutated, becoming even more contagious and deadly than before. It seemed that no matter how hard they fought, they were always one step behind the virus. They had lost friends, family, and loved ones to the infection, and the thought of continuing to fight was almost too much to bear.

But Jim refused to give up. He knew that they couldn’t just sit around and wait for the inevitable. They needed to take action and do what they could to fight the virus, even if it meant putting their lives on the line.

“We have to keep fighting,” Jim said, breaking the silence. “We can’t just give up now.”

But the others were hesitant. They had grown tired of the constant fear and danger that came with living in a world overrun by the infected. They longed for a sense of normalcy, for a time when they didn’t have to constantly look over their shoulders.

Jim knew that he couldn’t force them to keep fighting, but he also knew that he couldn’t give up. He had come too far and lost too much to just throw in the towel now. He had to find a way to keep going, to keep fighting, no matter how hopeless the situation seemed.

As they sat in silence, a faint whispering caught Jim’s attention. He strained his ears, trying to hear what it was. At first, he thought it was just the wind, but then he realized it was something else entirely.

He stood up and walked towards the window, peering out into the empty street below. At first, he saw nothing out of the ordinary, but then he noticed movement in the distance. It was a group of people, walking towards their building.

Jim’s heart rate quickened as he realized that these were not infected. They were survivors, just like them. He quickly alerted the others, and they rushed to the street to meet the newcomers.

As they got closer, Jim realized that this group was different than any other they had encountered before. They were organized and well-equipped, with weapons and supplies that the survivors had only dreamed of having.

“Who are you?” Jim asked, trying to hide his surprise.

The group’s leader stepped forward, a hardened look in her eyes. “We’re a community,” she said. “We’ve been fighting the infected for a long time, and we’ve gotten pretty good at it. We saw your signal and thought we’d come to offer our help.”

Jim felt a surge of hope as he realized that they weren’t alone. With this new group’s help, they might actually have a chance at fighting back against the infected.

Together, they worked to fortify their building, creating traps and defense mechanisms to keep the infected out. They also worked to scavenge for supplies and weapons, and to create a plan of attack against the infected.

The fighting was fierce, and the losses were heavy. But with each day, they grew stronger and more determined. They learned from their mistakes and adapted to the virus, finding new ways to outsmart the infected.

In the end, it was not the infected that defeated them, but something far more insidious. The virus had affected them all in ways they could not have predicted. The survivors began to turn on each other, arguing and fighting over food and supplies. Trust was hard to come by, and alliances were constantly shifting.

Jim watched in horror as the community he had fought so hard to build began to crumble before his eyes. He knew that they couldn’t go on like this, that they needed to find a way to come together and fight for a common goal.

And then, one day, it was too late. The infected had breached their defenses, and they were faced with an all-out attack. The fighting was brutal and intense, with both sides taking heavy losses.

Jim found himself face to face with an infected, its eyes blazing with bloodlust. He raised his weapon, ready to fight to the death, but then something unexpected happened. The infected stopped, staring at him for a moment before turning and running the other way.

Confused, Jim looked around, trying to make sense of what had just happened. And then he saw it. The infected were retreating, running away from something.

And that’s when Jim saw it. A bright light, shining in the distance. He turned to the others, a look of hope on his face. “We have to go,” he said. “We have to find out what that is.”

As they made their way towards the light, Jim felt a renewed sense of hope. Maybe there was a way out of this after all. Maybe they could find a cure, or at the very least, a way to survive.

And as the light grew brighter, Jim knew that they were on the right path. They might not have all the answers, but they had each other, and that was enough.

The end was still uncertain, but Jim knew one thing for sure. They were survivors, and they would keep fighting, no matter what.

INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE – DAY

The scene opens with the group of survivors huddled together in a dimly-lit abandoned warehouse. Tension is palpable among them, and Jim, their leader, looks worried.

JIM

(to the group)

Someone here is betraying us. We need to find out who.

The group looks at each other nervously, then turn to look at Selena, their newest member. Selena looks away, avoiding their gaze.

JIM

(to Selena)

Why did you run away from the military outpost? What did they do to you?

SELENA

(defeatedly)

I didn’t run away. They let me go.

MARK

(to Selena)

How do we know you’re not working with them? You could be leading them right to us.

SELINA

(tearfully)

I’m not working with the military. I swear.

Jim looks uncertain for a moment, then makes a decision.

JIM

(to Mark)

We can’t take any chances. Selena, you’re coming with me.

Selena looks panicked, but Jim grabs her arm and pulls her to her feet, leading her towards the door.

MARK

(angrily)

What are you doing?! You’re sending her to her death!

JIM

(calmly)

I’m sending her away, where she can’t harm us anymore. The rest of you stay here. We’ll be back soon.

Jim and Selena exit the warehouse, leaving the group behind. Once outside, Jim turns to Selena, his grip tightening on her arm.

JIM

(suspiciously)

Are you really not working with the military?

SELINA

(tearfully)

I swear. I didn’t want to leave. They made me.

Suddenly, Selena’s eyes widen and she gasps, pulling away from Jim.

SELINA

(terrified)

They’re here.

Jim looks up to see a group of military soldiers approaching from the distance.

JIM

(to Selena)

Run!

Jim and Selena take off in opposite directions, trying to escape the soldiers. Jim manages to lose them, but when he returns to the warehouse, he finds it torn apart and his group missing.

JIM

(to himself)

What have I done?

The scene ends with Jim standing alone in the empty warehouse, realizing that he has been betrayed by someone he trusted.

FADE TO BLACK.

Scene 5

EXT. LONDON STREETS – DAY

Jim and the survivors cautiously make their way through the desolate streets of London, avoiding the infected at every turn.

SARAH

(to the group)

We’ve been walking for hours. How much farther is this lab?

JIM

(pointing to a map)

According to the scientist, it should be just up ahead.

As they turn a corner, they spot a lone figure standing in the middle of the road.

JIM

(whispering)

Everyone, stay quiet.

The figure turns around, revealing themselves to be the scientist.

SCIENTIST

(smiling)

Ah, you made it.

JIM

(skeptical)

Where is the lab?

SCIENTIST

(turning around)

Follow me.

The group follows the scientist through a series of side streets and alleys until they reach a nondescript door. The scientist enters a code into a keypad, and the door slowly opens.

INT. LABORATORY – DAY

The group enters a high-tech laboratory filled with beeping machines and glowing screens.

SCIENTIST

(walking over to a workstation)

This is where we’ve been working on a cure for the virus.

JIM

(skeptical)

And where is this cure?

The scientist pulls out a small vial containing a green liquid.

SCIENTIST

(proudly)

Right here.

JIM

(taking the vial)

Let’s hope it works.

As Jim turns to leave the lab, the sound of alarms blares throughout the room.

JIM

(turning around to the scientist)

What’s happening?

SCIENTIST

(nervously)

The military has breached the building. We need to get out of here.

The group quickly gathers their things and makes a run for it.

EXT. LABORATORY – DAY

As they exit the laboratory, they are met with a group of soldiers.

SOLDIER

(holding a gun)

Stand down, civilians.

JIM

(trying to reason)

Please, we have a cure. We can help.

The soldier hesitates for a moment before lowering their gun.

SOLDIER

(pointing to a helicopter)

Get in. We’ll take you to the quarantine zone.

The group hesitantly climbs into the helicopter, unsure of what the future holds.

JIM

(to the scientist)

Let’s hope this cure works.

The helicopter takes off, leaving the desolate streets of London behind.
