Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile

Josh and Lyle quickly become best friends and soon, the whole Primm family has adopted the singing crocodile into their home. Josh’s parents, Jacob and Joan, worry that Lyle is too wild to be a house pet, but Josh finds pleasure in teaching him the ropes. Together, they explore the city and make all sorts of new discoveries.

One summer, Josh and Lyle find an abandoned boat in the harbor and decide to bring it back to the Primm’s house. Josh’s parents soon find out and are not happy about it. They demand that Josh and Lyle return the boat to the harbor, but the two are determined to keep it. In the end, Jacob and Joan give in, but only if Josh and Lyle promise to clean the boat up and turn it into something useful.

After much work, Josh and Lyle succeed in turning the boat into a stage for Lyle to perform his songs. They form a band with some of Josh’s schoolmates and start to perform at local bars and clubs around the city.

The band quickly gains popularity and they are even invited to perform at a large music festival. Josh’s parents are nervously supportive and are proud of their son’s success.

Back at home, Josh and Lyle couldn’t be happier, until tragedy strikes. As Josh and the other band members are packing up after a show one night, they hear a loud crash in the Primm’s house.

When they arrive home, they find that Lyle has been shot by a hunter who had mistaken him for a real crocodile. Josh is devastated and, after a tearful goodbye, says goodbye to his beloved friend.

Despite the tragedy, the Primm family remains strong. Josh’s parents take him on a special vacation and, when they return, Josh is determined to continue Lyle’s legacy. He and the band set up a nonprofit organization to support other young musicians, just as Lyle would have wanted.

The Primm family eventually adapts to the city, becoming well-known in the local music scene. Josh learns to cope with his grief, cherishing the time he had with Lyle and moving forward with an even stronger appreciation for music and friendship.
