JOHNNY: Hey, you okay?
BABY: (startled) Oh, Johnny. Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking.
JOHNNY: About what?
BABY: (sighs) My family. They just don’t understand me, you know? They want me to be this perfect little girl who just follows their rules.
JOHNNY: (nodding) Yeah, I get that. My old man used to be the same way.
Baby looks up at Johnny, impressed by his words.
BABY: You know, I never thought I’d meet someone like you here.
JOHNNY: (smiling) Same goes for me. You’re different from the other guests. You’re not afraid to be yourself.
BABY: (smiling) Thanks, Johnny. That means a lot.
There is a moment of silence between them. They both seem lost in thought.
JOHNNY: Hey, do you wanna go for a walk? Get some fresh air?
BABY: (smiling) I’d love that.
They walk off into the distance, leaving the resort behind them.
Scene 3
EXT. KELLERMAN’S RESORT – DAY
Baby walks towards the staff quarters feeling a little nervous. Johnny is waiting for her outside his room, leaning against the door frame.
Johnny:
Hey, you made it.
Baby:
Yeah, sorry I’m late. My sister insisted on tagging along.
Johnny:
No worries. Ready for your next lesson?
Baby:
Definitely.
Johnny leads her inside, and they start their lesson. Baby is picking up the steps much quicker than before, and Johnny is impressed with her progress. As they dance, they can feel the electric chemistry between them growing stronger.
Johnny:
You’re doing great, Baby. You have a natural talent for dancing.
Baby:
Thanks, Johnny. You’re a great teacher.
Johnny:
You’re a fast learner. It won’t be long before you can dance circles around me.
Baby:
(laughs) I highly doubt that.
Johnny:
You’d be surprised. You have the potential to be an amazing dancer.
As they continue dancing, they get lost in the moment, and Johnny spins Baby around. She stumbles, and they both fall to the ground in a fit of laughter. They both land on the floor, with Johnny on top of Baby. They look into each other’s eyes, and time seems to stand still.
Johnny:
(smiling) Oops, I guess I got carried away.
Baby:
(smiling back) It’s alright. I don’t mind.
They lay there, lost in each other’s company, until they hear a knock on the door.
Johnny stands up and brushes himself off before opening the door to reveal Penny, who looks at the two of them with a knowing smile.
Penny:
Sorry to interrupt, but I need to talk to you about the talent show choreography.
Johnny:
Sure thing. I’ll be right there.
Johnny turns back to Baby before leaving.
Johnny:
Same time tomorrow?
Baby:
(smiling) I’ll be here.
Johnny exits the room, leaving Baby to smile to herself as she walks back to her family’s cabin.
FADE TO BLACK.
Scene 4
INT. KELLERMAN’S RESORT – BALLROOM – DAY
Baby and Johnny rehearse their dance routine for the upcoming talent show. Despite a few missteps, they manage to work through the kinks and perfect their routine.
BABY: (breathless) “That was amazing. I never thought I could do any of this.”
JOHNNY: “You’re a natural, Baby. You just have to believe in yourself.”
Baby and Johnny share a moment of connection, their eyes locked in a mutual understanding.
Suddenly, the door bursts open and Robbie, Baby’s sister’s sleazy boyfriend, enters, followed by a group of his friends.
ROBBIE: “Hey, Baby. What are you doing with this low-life, huh?”
BABY: “We’re rehearsing for the talent show, Robbie. Can’t you see we’re busy?”
ROBBIE: “I don’t care about that. I heard some rumors about you and Johnny getting too close. You know that’s against the rules here.”
JOHNNY: “We’re just dancing, man. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
ROBBIE: “I don’t believe you. Stay away from my girl, Johnny, or there will be consequences.”
Robbie and his friends storm out of the ballroom, leaving Baby and Johnny shaken.
BABY: “I’m sorry, Johnny. I didn’t know he was going to do that.”
JOHNNY: “It’s not your fault, Baby. We’ll figure something out.”
The two continue to rehearse, but the tension in the room is palpable. Something tells them that their troubles are far from over.
Scene 5
INT. KELLERMAN’S RESORT – TALENT SHOW REHEARSAL – DAY
Baby and Johnny dance on a makeshift stage in the empty dining hall. Baby stumbles on a tricky step, causing Johnny to catch her.
JOHNNY: (smiling) Come on, Baby, you got this.
BABY: (breathless) I’m trying, it’s just not coming naturally to me.
Johnny takes her hand and places it on his chest.
JOHNNY: Feel the beat, Baby. Let the music guide you.
They continue to dance together, with Johnny guiding Baby’s movements. As they dance, the chemistry between them intensifies.
BABY: (breathless) Wow, I never realized dancing could feel like this.
JOHNNY: (smiling) It’s all about letting go and feeling the music.
Suddenly, a group of staff members burst into the dining hall, interrupting them.
STAFF MEMBER: Sorry to interrupt, folks, but we have to set up for the talent show rehearsal.
Johnny and Baby quickly separate and gather their belongings, both feeling slightly embarrassed.
BABY: What do we do now?
JOHNNY: (smiling) We keep practicing, Baby. We’ve got a show to put on.
Baby smiles back at him, feeling grateful for his encouragement.
INT. KELLERMAN’S RESORT – TALENT SHOW REHEARSAL – NIGHT
The dining hall is now full of guests, eagerly waiting for the talent show to begin. Baby’s family is seated in the front row, with her father looking particularly unhappy about being there.
The host of the show, MAX KELLERMAN, takes the stage.
MAX KELLERMAN: Welcome, everyone, to the annual Kellerman’s talent show. We’ve got a fantastic lineup of acts for you tonight, including our very own staff members.
The first few acts are met with polite applause, but nothing particularly noteworthy. Finally, it’s time for Johnny and Baby to take the stage.
As they begin to dance, the audience falls silent, completely mesmerized by their movements. The dance is sensual, passionate, and full of emotion. The judges are impressed, with one of them even giving a standing ovation.
When the dance is over, the audience erupts into thunderous applause, with many people on their feet. Baby’s family looks stunned, with her father looking particularly displeased.
AFTER THE SHOW
Baby and Johnny are backstage, basking in the afterglow of their performance.
BABY: That was amazing, Johnny. We did it!
JOHNNY: (smiling) We sure did, Baby. You were amazing up there.
Suddenly, Baby’s father storms into the backstage area, looking furious.
BABY’S FATHER: (angrily) What the hell was that performance all about, Baby? You should be ashamed of yourself!
BABY: (defensively) It was just a dance, Dad. What’s wrong with that?
BABY’S FATHER: (shouting) You were up there cavorting with that no-good dance instructor like some kind of slut! You’re coming home with me right now!
Johnny steps in, trying to diffuse the situation.
JOHNNY: (calmly) Sir, I promise you that there was nothing inappropriate about our dance. Baby worked really hard on this routine, and I was just helping her out.
BABY’S FATHER: (sneering) Save it, Romeo. I don’t want my daughter anywhere near you or your kind. We’re leaving right now.
Baby’s father grabs her arm and drags her out of the backstage area, with Baby looking back at Johnny, feeling heartbroken.
BABY: (whispering) I’m sorry, Johnny.
Johnny looks on helplessly, knowing that their time together might be coming to an end.
